Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the oil pan
  2. Place the spacer in its approximate installed location but allow clearance to tighten the pan bolt directly above the spacer.
  3. Tighten the oil pan bolts.
    • Tighten the M8X1.25X80 (1) to 24 N.m (18 ft lbs).
    • Tighten the M8X1.25X22 (2) to 24 N.m (18 ft lbs).
    • Tighten the M6X1.00X25 (3) to 12 N.m (106 in lbs).
    • Tighten the oil pan bolts (4) to 26 N.m (19 ft lbs).

  4. Position the spacer into its proper location and install the stud.
  5. Install the oil pan-to-transmission nut and bolts.
  6. Install the radiator outlet pipe.
  7. Install the engine mount strut bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Bracket Replacement .
  8. Install the transmission to the engine brace. Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 ft lbs).
  9. Install the A/C compressor lower bolts.
  10. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  11. Install the right engine splash shield.
  12. Install the right front wheel and tire assembly.
  13. Install the flywheel inspection shield.
  14. Install the oil filter if removed.
  15. Lower vehicle.
  16. Fill the cooling system.
  17. Fill the crankcase with the specified type and amount of oil.
