Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the air cleaner duct and resonator.
  2. Disconnect the following electrical connectors:
    • Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor
    • Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor
    • EVAP Canister Purge solenoid
    • Fuel injector harness
  3. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the fuel regulator and the EVAP canister purge solenoid to the canister.
  4. Remove the accelerator control cable bracket.
  5. Remove the stud ended generator mount bolt.

  6. Remove brake booster vacuum line from throttle body.
  7. Remove wiring harness from retainer on bottom of intake.
  8. Remove the intake manifold retaining nuts and bolts.
  9. Remove the intake manifold and the gasket.
