Timing Chain Housing - Removal

Tools Required: J 39579  Camshaft Gear Holder

  1. Remove the camshaft sprocket retaining bolts and washers. Use the J 39579  to hold the sprockets when removing the bolts.
  2. Remove the camshaft sprockets. The sprockets are interchangeable. No marking is required.

  3. Remove the 4 oil pan bolts.
  4. Remove the timing chain housing to camshaft housing bolts.
  5. Remove the timing chain housing to block bolts.
  6. Remove the timing chain housing.
  7. Remove the timing chain housing gaskets.
