Oil Pump - Cleaning & Inspection

  1. Clean all of the oil pump parts in solvent.
  2. Inspect the pump cover housing for the following conditions:
    • Cracks
    • Scoring
    • Porous or damaged casting
    • Damaged threads
    • Excessive wear or galling
  3. Inspect the pressure relief valve for damage. Replace the valve if the valve is damaged.
  4. Inspect the gerotor for the following conditions:
    • Chipping
    • Galling
    • Excessive wear
  5. Measure the following parts:
    • The gerotor cavity depth.
    • The inner gerotor tip clearance.
    • The outer gerotor diameter clearance.
    • The gear dimensions.
  6. Replace the pump as an assembly if the housing or gears are worn beyond specifications.
