Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal & Housing - Installation

Tools Required: J 36005  Rear Main Seal Installer

  1. Press the new crankshaft seal into the housing, using the J 36005  . The installer also establishes the depth of the seal in the housing.
  2. Position the new seal housing to block the gasket over the alignment dowel pins. The gasket is reversible.
  3. Lubricate the lip of the crankshaft seal with engine oil.
  4. Install the seal housing assembly.
  5. Install the seal housing to block bolts. Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 in lbs).
