Removal & Installation

CAUTION:
Do not hammer on brake drum as damage to the bearing could result.
NOTE:
Tools Required: J-43631 Ball Joint Separator
Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Remove the tire and the wheel assembly. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in TIRES AND WHEELS. Remove the brake drum. See BRAKE DRUM - 2002 or BRAKE DRUM - 2003 . Remove the wheel stud using the J-43631. Discard the wheel stud. Install the new stud from the back side of the hub. Install the four flat washers on the hub. Install the wheel nut with the flat side toward the washers. Tighten the nut until the stud is properly seated in the hub flange. Remove the nut and the washers. Install the brake drum. Refer to BRAKE DRUM in DISC BRAKES & DRUM BRAKES . Install the tire and the wheel assembly. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in TIRES AND WHEELS. Lower the vehicle.
