Park Brake Lever Assembly: Removal

  1. Remove the console. Release the tension from the park brake cable system. See DISABLING PARK BRAKE CABLE AUTOMATIC ADJUSTER  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the park brake warning lamp switch. See Fig 1
  3. Remove the front park brake cable end from the lever reel assembly. See Fig 1 .
  4. Using the Parking Brake Cable Release Tool, release the cable conduit end fitting from the lever assembly. See Fig 1 .
  5. Remove the transmission shift control assembly mounting nuts. See Fig 2 .
  6. Remove the park brake lever assembly rear mounting nut. Raise the shift control assembly just enough to allow the park brake lever assembly to be removed. See Fig 1 .
  7. Remove the console attachment bracket. Remove the lever assembly. See Fig 1 .
