Master Cylinder: Installation

  1. Bench bleed the master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDER BENCH BLEEDING  under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM.
  2. Install the master cylinder to the vacuum brake booster. See Figure .
  3. Position the proportioning valve assembly bracket or the anti-lock brake modulator bracket, onto the brake booster studs.
  4. Install the master cylinder mounting nuts. Tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Remove the caps from brake pipes. Connect the brake pipe fittings at the master cylinder. Tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Connect the electrical connector to the brake fluid level sensor. See Figure .
  7. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING THE BRAKE SYSTEM  .
