Drum Brake Hardware: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  2. Remove the brake drum. See BRAKE DRUM  .
  3. Position the hook end of the Brake Shoe Spanner and Spring Remover under the universal spring and lightly pull the universal spring end out of the shoe web hole.
  4. Position the hook end of the Brake Shoe Spanner and Spring Remover under the universal spring and lightly pull the universal spring end out of the shoe web hole.
  5. Remove the universal spring from the brake backing plate.
