Brake Pedal Assembly: Removal

  1. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal. See appropriate ENGINE MECHANICAL article in ENGINE.
  2. Remove the retaining clip and outer washer from the brake pedal. Disconnect the brake booster pushrod from the brake pedal.
  3. Remove the inner washer from the brake pedal. Remove the stop light switch from the brake pedal assembly. See STOPLIGHT SWITCH  .
  4. Remove the cruise control release switch, if equipped, from the brake pedal assembly.
  5. Release the electrical harness from the brake pedal assembly.
  6. Remove the brake booster mounting nuts.
  7. Remove the brake pedal assembly upper mounting nut.
  8. Remove the brake pedal assembly from the vehicle.
