Brake Pedal Assembly: Installation

  1. Install the brake pedal assembly to the vehicle. Loosely install the brake pedal assembly upper mounting nut.
  2. Install the power brake booster mounting nuts. Tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Tighten the brake pedal assembly upper mounting nut. Tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Secure the electrical harness to the brake pedal assembly. Install the stop light switch to the brake pedal assembly. See STOPLIGHT SWITCH 
  5. Install the cruise control release switch, if equipped, to the brake pedal assembly.
  6. Install the inner washer to the brake pedal.
  7. Apply a thin coating of lithium grease to the pushrod pin on the brake pedal.
  8. Connect the brake pedal pushrod to the brake pedal.
  9. Install the outer washer and retaining clip to the brake pedal.
  10. Adjust the stop light switch. See STOPLIGHT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
  11. Adjust the cruise control release switch, if equipped. See CLUTCH RELEASE SWITCH ADJUSTMENT in appropriate CRUISE CONTROL article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  12. Connect the accelerator cable to the accelerator pedal. See appropriate ENGINE MECHANICAL article in ENGINE.
