Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, retrieve DTC's. If DTC B1000 is retrieved as a current DTC, replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step. If DTC B1000 is not retrieved as a current DTC, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
  2. Using scan tool, clear DTC's. Road test vehicle, then check for DTC's. If DTC B1000 is retrieved by scan tool, go to step  1. If DTC B1000 is not retrieved, system is normal.
