Installation Procedure

  1. Place the IP carrier (3) into the vehicle.
  2. Install the IP carrier (3) to the tie bar (2).
  3. Install the screws (4) to the IP carrier (3). Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb. in.).
  4. Install the tilt lever. See TILT LEVER REPLACEMENT -- ON VEHICLE .
  5. Install the washer switch. For 2001, see WIPER/WASHER SWITCH . For 2002, see WINDSHIELD WIPER & WASHER SWITCH REPLACEMENT -- ON VEHICLE .
  6. Install the steering wheel. For 2001, see STEERING WHEEL . For 2002, see STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT .
  7. Install the air distribution ducts.
  8. Install the air distribution screws. Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb. in.).
  9. Install the right IP trim panel to the IP carrier (3).
  10. Install the right IP trim panel screws. Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb. in.).
  11. Connect the electrical connectors and the antenna coaxial cable to the radio.
  12. Install the radio to the IP carrier.
  13. Install the radio screws. Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb. in.).
  14. Install the HVAC control. For 2001, see A/C-HEATER CONTROL PANEL . For 2002, see HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY .
  15. Install the IP SIR module.
  16. Install the IP outer trim covers.
  17. Install the IP outer trim cover screws. Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb. in.).
  18. Install the IP defroster grille to the IP trim pad. Press into place until fully seated.
  19. Enable the SIR system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article for 2001. For 2002, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
  20. Connect the negative battery cable.
