DTC P0461: Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Performance: Description
Fuel level sender changes resistance based on fuel level. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors signal circuit of fuel level sender in order to determine fuel level percent. PCM sends fuel level percent over the Class 2 serial data circuit to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) in order to control fuel gauge. This diagnostic tests for a stuck fuel level sender signal. PCM sets DTC P0461 if fuel level sender signal appears to be stuck based on a lack of signal variation (at least 1.6 percent) expected during normal operation over a distance of 120 miles (193 kilometers).
