Diagnostic Procedures

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. If powertrain diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If powertrain diagnostic system check was not performed, go to POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM TESTS. After performing powertrain diagnostic system check, go to next step.
NOTE: Before performing next step, ensure AIR pump is operating and air is present at outlet of AIR pump. If AIR pump is inoperative, go to DTC P0410: SECONDARY AIR INJECTION (AIR) SYSTEM  for further diagnosis.
  2. Start engine and allow to idle until "closed-loop" status is achieved. Turn off all accessories. Using scan tool, select ENGINE 1 DATA LIST and monitor suspect bank HO2S bank voltage display. Enable AIR system using scan tool. If suspect HO2S voltage drops to less than 350 mV, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS . If HO2S voltage does not drop to less than 350 mV, go to next step.
  3. Ensure all AIR system hoses and pipes are connected and clamps secure. Check for heat damaged components. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step  6. If components are okay, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect hose from check valve at suspect HO2S bank exhaust manifold. Using scan tool, enable AIR pump. If air is present at hose outlet, go to step  7. If air is not present, go to next step.
  5. Repair restriction or blockage in AIR hoses/pipes between suspect exhaust manifold and where system branches to both sides of engine. After repairs, go to step  8.
  6. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step  8.
  7. Replace suspect check valve. After replacing check valve, go to next step.
  8. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition off for at least 30 seconds. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Operate vehicle within conditions for setting this DTC. If scan tool indicates that this test ran and passed, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate that this test ran and passed, go to step  2.
  9. Using scan tool, select CAPTURE INFO, REVIEW INFO function. If any undiagnosed DTCs are displayed, go to applicable DTC test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no undiagnosed DTCs are displayed, system is okay.
