DTC B2852: Column Forward Switch Shorted To Ground

  1. Perform telescoping column system check. See TELESCOPING COLUMN SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool to DLC connector. Turn ignition on. Monitor column forward switch status. If column switch status is ACTIVE, go to next step. If column switch status is not ACTIVE, go to step  7 .
  3. Disconnect steering column telescoping actuator switch connector. Monitor column switch status. If column switch status is ACTIVE, go to next step. If column switch status is not ACTIVE, go to step  5 .
  4. Check for short to ground in Pink wire between telescoping actuator switch and Seat Control Module (SCM) 16-pin connector C1. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  9 . If circuit is okay, go to step  6 .
  5. Replace telescoping actuator switch. See TELESCOPING ACTUATOR SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  6. Replace Seat Control Module (SCM). See POWER SEATS - CORVETTE article. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  7. Check column forward switch circuit for intermittent malfunction. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  9 . If circuits are okay, go to next step.
  8. Turn ignition off. Reconnect all disconnected components. Turn ignition on. Clear all DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)  . Wait 20 seconds. If DTC B2852 sets as history code, go to step  6 . If DTC B2852 does not set, system is okay at this time.
  9. Turn ignition off. Reconnect all disconnected components. Turn ignition on. Clear all DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)  . Perform telescoping column system check. See TELESCOPING COLUMN SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
