Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Disassemble - Off Vehicle

Tools Required 

• J 23653-SIR Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor 
• J 42137 Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor Adapter 

1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to SIR COIL ASSEMBLY .
3. Remove the bearing retainer (1) using J 23653-SIR and J 42137  .

4. Remove the shaft lock shield assembly (5).

5. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4).
6. Remove the upper bearing spring (3).
7. Remove the upper bearing inner race seat (2).
8. Remove the inner race (1).
9. Remove the 3 flat head screws (1).
10. Remove the signal switch housing assembly (2).
