Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Firebird and 2002 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (3.8L Engine) , Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left (5.7L Engine)  and Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right (5.7L Engine) .
  2. Remove the exhaust heat shield bolts (2, 3).
  3. Remove the exhaust heat shield (1).

  4. Unhook the exhaust heat shield from the converter heat shield.
  5. Remove the exhaust heat shield.
