Engine Identification

The primary Vehicle Identification Number - VIN derivative for the 3800 - L36 is stamped or laser etched on the left side of the engine block above the starter motor (1).

The secondary Vehicle Identification Number - VIN, derivative for the 3800 - L36 is stamped or laser etched below the water pump on the engine block (1). The Vehicle Identification Number- derivative is nine digits long and can be used to determine if a vehicle contains the original engine.
