Diagnostic Procedures

- Perform On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system check. See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) SYSTEM CHECK . After performing OBD system check, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, monitor TFT sensor display using ENGINE 3 DATA LIST. If TFT sensor value is -38°F (-39°C), go to step 4. If TFT sensor value is not -38°F (-39°C), go to next step.
- Using scan tool, review FREEZE FRAME and/or FAILURE RECORDS data for this DTC. Observe parameter. Turn ignition off for 15 seconds, then start engine. Operate vehicle within conditions for setting this DTC. If scan tool indicates that this DTC failed this ignition, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate that this DTC failed this ignition, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Disconnect TFT sensor harness connector. Using scan tool, observe TFT sensor reading. If reading is 284°F (150°C), go to step 9. If reading is not 284°F (150°C), go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between a known-good ground and TFT sensor signal circuit. Using scan tool, observe TFT sensor reading. If reading is 284°F (150°C), go to step 8. If reading is not 284°F (150°C), go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector. Check for open in TFT sensor signal circuit. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step 11.
- Repair TFT signal circuit. After repairs, go to step 14.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector. Check for open in TFT sensor circuit. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 10. If circuit is okay, go to step 11.
- Replace TFT sensor. After replacing sensor, go to step 14.
- Repair TFT sensor ground circuit. After repairs, go to step 14.
- Check for short to voltage in TFT signal circuit. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 14. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check for poor connections at PCM connector. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 14. If connections are okay, go to next step.
- Replace PCM. Program replacement PCM using required equipment. After replacing PCM, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, select DTC, CLEAR INFO. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Select DTC, SPECIFIC, then enter this DTC. Operate vehicle within conditions for setting this DTC. If scan tool indicates that this test ran and passed, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate that this test ran and passed, repeat step 2.
- Using scan tool, select CAPTURE INFO, REVIEW INFO function. If any undiagnosed DTCs are displayed, go to applicable DTC test. If no other DTCs are set, system is okay.
