Circuit Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Pontiac Firebird, 2000 Chevrolet Corvette, and 2000 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The TFT sensor is a thermistor that changes resistance based on temperature. TFT sensor has a signal and ground circuit. PCM applies a voltage (about 5 volts) on signal circuit to sensor. PCM monitors changes in this voltage caused by changes in resistance to determine fluid temperature. DTC will set when PCM senses a signal voltage higher than normal operating range of sensor.
