The TFT sensor is a thermistor that changes resistance based on temperature. TFT sensor has a signal and ground circuit. PCM applies a voltage (about 5 volts) on signal circuit to sensor. PCM monitors changes in this voltage caused by changes in resistance to determine fluid temperature. DTC will set when PCM senses a signal voltage lower than normal operating range of sensor.
