Engine Mechanical

Inspect the following:
- Engine compression. See ENGINE COMPRESSION TEST under PRELIMINARY INSPECTION & ADJUSTMENTS in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - 4.6L DEVILLE & SEVILLE article.
- Sticking or leaking valves.
- Worn camshaft lobes.
- Valve timing.
- Worn rocker arms. See appropriate article in ENGINES.
- Broken or weak valve springs. See appropriate article in ENGINES.
- Excessive oil in the combustion chamber-leaking seals.
Inspect for incorrect basic engine parts. Inspect the following:
- Camshafts
- Cylinder Heads
- Pistons, etc.
