  1. Inspect for excessive oil in the combustion chamber-leaking valve seals. See appropriate article in ENGINES.
  2. Inspect for low cylinder compression. See ENGINE COMPRESSION TEST in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - 4.6L DEVILLE & SEVILLE article.
  3. Inspect for incorrect basic engine parts. Inspect the following:
    • Camshafts
    • Cylinder Heads
    • Pistons, etc.
