Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Firebird and 2002 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the generator. Refer to 3.8L ENGINE .
  2. Remove the spark plug wires from the 1, 3 and 5 spark plugs.

  3. Remove the spark plug wiring harness from the clip and reposition the harness.
  4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE
  5. Remove the rear engine left bracket bolt (1) and stud (2).
  6. Remove the rear engine lift bracket (3).
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Loosen the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  9. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.

  10. Remove the oil fill tube, if necessary.

    To remove the fill tube press the tangs inside the tube in and twist the tube.

  11. Clean the following items:
    • Valve rocker arm cover
    • Cylinder head gasket surface
    • Valve rocker arm cover bolts
