Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Firebird and 2002 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the clutch, if equipped with a manual transmission. Refer to CLUTCH ASSEMBLY .
  2. Remove the automatic transmission, if equipped. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION and/or SERVICING - M/T .
  3. Use the J 37096 to hold the flywheel to loosen the flywheel bolts.

  4. If equipped with the manual transmission, remove the following components:
    1. 4.1. Remove the flywheel bolts (1).
    2. 4.2. Remove the flywheel (2).

  5. If equipped with the automatic transmission, remove the following components:
    1. 5.1. Remove the flywheel bolts (1).
    2. 5.2. Remove the flywheel (2).
