Refrigerant System Evacuation

  1. Connect an R-134a service center to low and high pressure service gauge port valves.
  2. Evacuate system until low pressure gauge reads at least 29.5 in. Hg (99.4 kPa) of vacuum and as close to 30 in. Hg (101.1 kPa) as possible. Continue to operate vacuum pump for a minimum of 45 minutes.
  3. Turn off vacuum pump. Observe low pressure gauge for 5 minutes to ensure system vacuum is held. If vacuum is not held for 5 minutes, leak test system, repair leak and evacuate system again.
