Removal (3.8L)

- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
- Remove the starter. See STARTERS - CAMARO & FIREBIRD article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS.
- Remove the transmission brace bolts (5) attaching the left brace (4) to the engine block. See Fig 1.
- Remove the transmission brace nut (1) attaching the left brace (4) to the transmission. See Fig 1.
- Remove the left side transmission brace (4). See Fig 1.
- Remove the transmission torque converter cover bolt (3). See Fig 1.
- Remove the right side engine mount. See ENGINE MOUNTS .
- Remove the transmission brace bolts (2, 3) attaching the right brace (4) to the engine block. See Fig 2.
- Remove the transmission brace nut (6) attaching the right brace (4) to the transmission. See Fig 2.
- Remove the right side transmission brace (4). See Fig 2.
- Remove the transmission converter cover bolt (1). See Fig 2.
- Remove the transmission converter cover (5) from the vehicle. See Fig 2.
