Installation (3.8L)

  1. Install the transmission converter cover (5) to the vehicle. See Figure.
  2. Install the transmission converter cover bolt (1). Tighten the transmission converter cover bolt (1) to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the right side brace (4). See Figure.
  4. Install the transmission brace nut (6) to the right side brace (4). See Figure. Tighten the transmission brace nut (6) to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Install the transmission brace bolts (2, 3) to the right brace (4) and engine block. See Figure. Tighten the transmission brace bolts (2, 3) to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Install the right side engine mount. See ENGINE MOUNTS .
  7. Install the transmission converter cover bolt (3). See Figure. Tighten the transmission converter cover bolt (3) to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Install the left side brace (4) to the transmission. See Figure.
  9. Install the transmission brace nut (1) attaching the left brace (4) to the transmission. See Figure. Tighten the transmission nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Install the transmission brace bolts (5) attaching the left brace (4) to the engine block. See Figure. Tighten the transmission brace bolts (5) to engine block to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Install the starter. See STARTERS - CAMARO & FIREBIRD article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
