Engine Mounts: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Firebird and 2002 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the generator. See GENERATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in GENERATORS & REGULATORS - CAMARO & FIREBIRD article in ELECTRICAL.
  2. Remove the ignition control module. See IGNITION CONTROL MODULE under IGNITION SYSTEMS in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - CAMARO & FIREBIRD article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  3. Install the engine support fixture to the engine.
  4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  5. Remove the 3-way catalytic converter.
  6. Remove the right side engine mount through bolt nut (2). See Fig 1.
  7. Remove the left side engine mount through bolt nut (1). See Fig 2.
  8. Remove the transmission oil cooler line bracket bolt and bracket. See Fig 3.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Remove the A/C compressor from the A/C compressor bracket without recovering the refrigerant. See COMPRESSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in MANUAL A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS - CAMARO & FIREBIRD article in HVAC.
  11. Raise the engine slightly in order to relieve tension on the through bolts.
  12. Remove the right engine mount through bolt (1). See Fig 1.
  13. Remove the left engine mount through bolt (2). See Fig 2.
  14. Raise the engine enough to remove the engine mounts.
  15. Raise the vehicle.
  16. Remove the right engine mount bolts (1) and the right engine mount (2). See Fig 4.
  17. Remove the left engine mount bolts (1) and the left engine mount (2). See Fig 5.
