Diagnostic Aids

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn LW200, 2002 Saturn L200, and 2002 Saturn L100. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Excessive engine noise will not set this DTC.

An open anywhere in KS circuit or short to ground in Dark Blue wire will cause no knock sensor activity and DTC will set.

Normal KS values should vary between 0.2 volt at idle to 2.0 volts at wide open throttle, shown as KS NOISE on scan tool. Voltage should increase with RPM.

Ensure KS is installed properly and is torqued to 19 ft. lbs. (25 N.m). Ensure correct fuel octane level is being used.

Knock sensor resistance should be infinite (open).
