Transmission Extension Housing Assembly & Seal: Removal

- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Remove the propeller shaft. See appropriate DRIVESHAFT & UNIVERSAL JOINTS article in DRIVE AXLES. Remove the rear axle torque arm. See appropriate REAR article in SUSPENSION.
- Remove the catalytic converter hanger. Remove the case extension bolts (1). Remove the case extension (2). Remove the case extension O-ring (3). See Fig 1 . Discard the O-ring (3). Remove the case extension seal. Remove the output shaft sleeve (1), if necessary. See Fig 2 . Remove the output shaft seal (2), if necessary.
