Transmission Extension Housing Assembly & Seal: Installation

  1. Install the output shaft sleeve seal (2), if necessary. See Figure . Install the output shaft sleeve (1) using (J-21426), if necessary. Install a new case extension seal using a soft face hammer and (J-21426). See Fig 1 . Install a new case extension O-ring (3). Install the case extension (2).
  2. Install the case extension bolts (1). Tighten the case extension bolts (1) to 26 ft. lbs. (35 N.m). Install the rear axle torque arm. See appropriate REAR article in SUSPENSION.
  3. Install the propeller shaft. See appropriate DRIVESHAFT & UNIVERSAL JOINTS article in DRIVE AXLES. Install the catalytic converter hanger. Lower the vehicle. Check the transmission fluid level.
