Valley Cover: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Firebird and 2002 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: All gasket surfaces should be free of oil or other foreign material during assembly.
  1. Install NEW knock sensor oil seals into the valley cover. See Figure. Lubricate the seal surfaces with clean engine oil.
  2. Install the engine valley cover and NEW gasket. Install the engine valley cover bolts. Tighten the engine valley cover bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the knock sensors. Tighten the knock sensor bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Connect the knock sensor wire harness connectors. Install the rubber grommets into the valley cover. Install the intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD .
