Removal (Right Side)

  1. Remove the heater hoses. Drain the engine coolant. See DRAINING & FILLING COOLING SYSTEM . Do not apply excessive force on the heater core pipes during hose removal. Applying excessive force on the heater core pipes may damage the heater core pipes. Remove the inlet and outlet heater hoses from the water pump. Remove the bolt attaching the inlet and outlet heater hose bracket from the mid rail. Remove the inlet heater hose from the heater core and frame rail clip. Remove the outlet heater hose from the heater core. Remove the inlet and outlet heater hoses from the vehicle.
  2. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. See ROCKER ARMS & PUSH RODS .
  3. To remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe, remove the intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD . Remove the coolant air bleed pipe studs. See Figure. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe with gaskets.
  4. Remove the exhaust manifold. See EXHAUST MANIFOLD .
  5. Remove the engine wiring harness clip bolt from the right side cylinder head. See Fig 1.
  6. Remove the cylinder head bolts. See Figure. Remove the cylinder head.
  7. Remove the gasket. Discard the gasket. Discard the M11 cylinder head bolts. Clean and inspect the cylinder head.
