Removal (Left Side)

  1. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. See ROCKER ARMS & PUSH RODS .
  2. To remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe, remove the intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD . Remove the coolant air bleed pipe studs. See Figure. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe with gaskets.
  3. Remove the power steering pump rear bracket. See POWER RACK & PINION - CAMARO & FIREBIRD article in STEERING . Remove the exhaust manifold. See EXHAUST MANIFOLD .
  4. Remove the engine wiring harness ground bolts from the rear of the cylinder head. Reposition the ground wires. See Fig 1.
    5. NOTE: After removal, place the cylinder head on 2 wood blocks to prevent damage.
  5. Remove the cylinder head bolts. See Figure. Remove the cylinder head.
  6. Remove the cylinder head gasket. Discard the gasket. Discard the cylinder head bolts.
