Removal (Left Side)

- Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. See ROCKER ARMS & PUSH RODS .
- To remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe, remove the intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD . Remove the coolant air bleed pipe studs. See Figure. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe with gaskets.
- Remove the power steering pump rear bracket. See POWER RACK & PINION - CAMARO & FIREBIRD article in STEERING . Remove the exhaust manifold. See EXHAUST MANIFOLD .
- Remove the engine wiring harness ground bolts from the rear of the cylinder head. Reposition the ground wires. See Fig 1.
- Remove the cylinder head bolts. See Figure. Remove the cylinder head.
- Remove the cylinder head gasket. Discard the gasket. Discard the cylinder head bolts.
NOTE:
After removal, place the cylinder head on 2 wood blocks to prevent damage.
