Accessory Drive Belt: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Firebird and 2002 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Route the drive belt around all the pulleys, except the water pump and belt tensioner.
  2. Install the breaker bar with hex-head socket to the belt tensioner bolt. Rotate the belt tensioner clockwise in order to relieve the tension on the tensioner.
  3. Install the drive belt under the water pump pulley. Install the drive belt onto the belt tensioner. Slowly release the tension, on the belt tensioner.
  4. Remove the breaker bar and socket from the belt tensioner bolt. Inspect the drive belt for proper alignment.
  5. Install the air intake duct to the throttle body and air cleaner box. Connect the MAF and IAT sensors. See Figure.
