Camshaft Bearing Installation

  1. Select the expanding driver and washer from the tool usage information. Assemble the tool. See Figure.
  2. Insert the Camshaft Bearing Remover/Installer (J-33049) through the front of the engine block and to the bearing bore. Install the NEW bearing onto the tool. Tighten the expander assembly nut until snug.
  3. Push the guide cone into the front camshaft bearing to align the tool. Properly align the oil hole in the bearing with the oil gallery in the engine block. Drive the bearing into the block bore.
    4. NOTE: To install the front camshaft bearing, operate the tool from the rear of the block using the guide cone in the rear camshaft bearing bore.
  4. Repeat the above procedures to install the remaining bearings. Check the installed bearing for proper alignment of the oil gallery holes.
