Removal (Front)

- Ensure that the park brake hand lever is in the down position in order to disengage the adjuster pawl. Raise and support the vehicle.
- Pull down on the front cable strand until the strand stops and stays extended. Remove the rear cables from the equalizer. See Fig 1 .
- Use Parking Brake Cable Release Tool (J-37043) in order to remove the fitting of the park brake front cable from the bracket. Remove the cable grommet from the underbody cavity.
- Lower the vehicle. Remove the front floor console. Remove the park brake spring while the park brake lever is in the up position. See Fig 2 .
- With the park brake lever in the down position, rotate the adjuster arm toward the front of the vehicle until the adjuster arm stops. On adjuster ratchet, bend tab at barrel-shaped front cable end back in order to allow the cable strand to pass by.
- Remove the barrel-shaped front cable end fitting from the adjuster track on the pulley. Use Parking Brake Cable Release Tool (J-37043) in order to remove the park brake front cable from the park brake lever. See Fig 2 . Remove the park brake front cable from the floor plan.
