Removal & Installation (Rear)

CAUTION: Make sure that the park brake lever is not engaged. If the park brake lever is engaged, equalizer cables will not pull reward.

Fully disengage the park brake lever. Ensure that the handle is down and that the brake indicator lamp is not lit. Raise and support the vehicle.
Pull down on the front cable strand until the strand stops and stays extended. Cut off the tie strap. Remove the rear cable from the underbody bracket.
Use Parking Brake Cable Release Tool (J-37043) in order to compress the retainer fingers on the casing and pull the rear cable from the underbody bracket. Remove the rear park brake cables from the park brake cable equalizer. See Figure .
Pull the park brake rear cable through the guides that are installed on the rear axle housing. See Fig 1 . Unhook the rear cable eyelet from the park brake actuator lever. See Fig 2 .
Use the Parking Brake Cable Release Tool (J-37043) in order to compress the retainer fingers on the conduit fitting and pull the rear cable from the cable bracket. See Fig 3 .
