TRUNK OPEN Indicator

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 2002 Chevrolet Impala, 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and 2001 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) receives a class 2 message from BCM requesting illumination and illuminates TRUNK OPEN indicator in message center when Body Control Module (BCM) detects that trunk is open (signal circuit is low). If vehicle is in a forward or reverse gear position, BCM sends a class 2 message to radio in order to activate an audible warning of 4 chimes. If TRUNK OPEN indicator message flashes for one minute after ignition is turn on, trunk release sensor is turned off.
