Test 4: Seat Does Not Tilt Forward

NOTE:
Front of seat does not move up or down. This procedure is applicable to driver's and passenger's seats with and without memory.
- If power seats diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If power seats diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to POWER SEATS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Disconnect suspect power seat switch connector. Connect a jumper wire between ground and power seat switch connector terminal No. 26 (Dark Green wire) for driver's seat, or between ground and power seat switch connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green wire) for passenger's seat. See Figure . If front of seat moves up, go to next step. If front of seat does not move up, remove jumper wire and go to step 5 .
- Connect a jumper wire between ground and power seat switch connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue wire) for driver's seat, or between ground and power seat switch connector terminal No. 26 (Dark Blue wire) for passenger's seat. If front of seat moves down, go to next step. If front of seat does not move down, remove jumper wire and go to step 7 .
- Replace suspect power seat switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 16 .
- Disconnect suspect seat relay center connector C1. Using DVOM, check continuity of Dark Green wire between suspect seat relay center connector C1 terminal No. 16 and power seat switch connector terminal No. 26. See Figure . If continuity is not indicated, go to next step. If continuity is indicated, go to step 9 .
- Repair open in Dark Green wire between suspect power seat switch and seat relay center. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, go to step 16 .
- Disconnect suspect seat relay center connector C1. Using DVOM, check continuity of Dark Blue wire between seat relay center connector C1 terminal No. 17 and power seat switch connector terminal No. 1. If continuity is not indicated, go to next step. If continuity is indicated, go to step 9 .
- Repair open in Dark Blue wire between suspect power seat switch and seat relay center. After repairs, go to step 16 .
- Disconnect suspect seat relay center connectors C2 and C3. Connect a jumper wire between battery voltage and suspect seat relay center connector C3 terminal "C" (Dark Blue wire). See Figure . Connect second jumper wire between ground and suspect seat relay center connector C2 terminal "E" (Dark Green wire). Reverse jumper wires. If front of suspect seat does not move in both directions, go to next step. If front of suspect seat moves in both directions, go to step 11 .
- Disconnect suspect lower seat motor connector C1. Using DVOM, check for continuity in Dark Blue wire between suspect seat relay center connector C3 terminal "C" and seat motor connector C1 terminal "D". See Figure . If continuity is not indicated, go to step 12 . If continuity is indicated, go to step 13 .
- Replace suspect seat relay center. After repairs, go to step 16 .
- Repair open or high resistance in Dark Blue wire between seat motor and seat relay center. After repairs, go to step 16 .
- Using DVOM, check for continuity in Dark Green wire between suspect seat relay center connector C2 terminal "E" and seat motor connector C1 terminal "C". If continuity is not indicated, go to next step. If continuity is indicated, go to step 15 .
- Repair open or high resistance in Dark Green wire between seat motor and seat relay center. After repairs, go to step 16 .
- Check for mechanical binding of front vertical seat motor or linkage of suspect seat. If motor and linkage are free, replace seat adjuster motors. See SEAT ADJUSTER MOTORS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Recheck power seat operation. If power seat operates normally, repair is complete. If power seat does not operate normally, go to step 2 .
