DTC B2573: Hatch Release Switch Circuit: Testing

- If body rear end diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If body rear end diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to BODY REAR END DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Turn ignition on. Select BCM data list on scan tool. Monitor HATCH RELEASE SWITCH status on scan tool. If HATCH RELEASE SWITCH status is INACTIVE, go to next step. If HATCH RELEASE SWITCH status is not INACTIVE, go to step 4 .
- Monitor HATCH RELEASE SWITCH status on scan tool. Press foglight/rear compartment lid/hatch release switch. If HATCH RELEASE SWITCH status does not change, go to next step. If HATCH RELEASE SWITCH status changes, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect foglight/rear compartment lid/hatch release switch connector. Turn ignition on. Monitor HATCH RELEASE SWITCH status on scan tool. If HATCH RELEASE SWITCH status is not INACTIVE, go to next step. If HATCH RELEASE SWITCH status is INACTIVE, go to step 7 .
- Check for short to voltage in Black wire between BCM and foglight/rear compartment lid/hatch release switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If faulty circuit is found and repaired, go to step 10 .
- Check for intermittent connections at BCM. If connections are okay, go to step 8 . If faulty connection is found and repaired, go to step 10 .
- Check for intermittent connections at foglight/rear compartment lid/hatch release switch. If connections are okay, go to step 9 . If faulty connection is found and repaired, go to step 10 .
- Replace BCM and program. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - CORVETTE article. After repairs, go to step 10 .
- Replace foglight/rear compartment lid/hatch release switch. See FOG LIGHT/REAR COMPARTMENT LID/HATCH RELEASE SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Clear DTCs. Recheck system operation. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC resets, go to step 2 . If DTC does not reset, repair is complete.
