Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Chevrolet Corvette. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connectors. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using a test light connected to battery positive terminal, probe BCM connector C3, terminal A2 (Black wire). If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, go to step  3 .
  2. Check BCM connectors and ground G202 for poor connections. If connectors and G202 are okay, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - CORVETTE article.
  3. Repair open in steering column unlock ground circuit between BCM and ground G202 or connection at G202. After repairs, go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Clear BCM steering column lock fail enable mode by removing BCM1 & IPC fuse No. 25 (10-amp) for 15 seconds. Operate system to ensure DTCs do not reset.
