Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove engine. See ENGINE . Remove upper and lower intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD (UPPER)  and INTAKE MANIFOLD (LOWER)  . Remove rocker arms and push rods. See ROCKER ARMS & PUSH RODS .
  2. Remove valve lifters. Remove timing chain and sprockets. See TIMING CHAIN & SPROCKETS . Remove camshaft thrust plate and camshaft. Install one 1/2-20 x 6.0" bolt into camshaft front bolt hole. Carefully rotate and pull camshaft out of bearings.
