Installation Procedure

  1. Install the water pump and gaskets to the engine block.

    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the water pump bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the water pump bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  3. Install the throttle body heater outlet hose to the radiator.

  4. Install the drive belt tensioner and bolts to the water pump.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the drive belt tensioner bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the outlet hose to the water outlet.
  6. Position the outlet hose clamp at the water outlet.
  7. Install the fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .
  8. Install the inlet hose. Refer to RADIATOR HOSE REPLACEMENT - INLET (3.8L ENGINE)  or RADIATOR HOSE REPLACEMENT - INLET (5.7L ENGINE) .

  10. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .
  11. Fill the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
