Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new water pump gasket (3).

  2. Install the water pump (2).
    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  3. Install the water pump bolts (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the water pump bolts (1) to 15 N.m (11 lb ft). Using the J 36660-A torque the water pump bolts an additional 80 degrees.

  4. Connect the radiator inlet hose to the water pump.

  5. Position the radiator inlet hose at the water pump.
  6. Install the water pump pulley.
  7. Install the water pump pulley bolts until snug.
  8. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .
  9. Tighten the water pump bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 13 N.m (115 lb in).

  10. Add the engine coolant.
