Test A: Power Seat Inoperative
- Review power seat operation. See DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
. Go to next step.
- Using power seat switch, operate power seat through all positions. If power seat does not operate properly, go to next step. If power seat operates properly, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING
.
- If all power seat functions are inoperative, go to next step. If any power seat function is inoperative, go to step 6
.
- Inspect Orange wire for open or high resistance by backprobing between power seat switch harness connector terminal "F" (without power lumbar support) or terminal "A" (with power lumbar support) and instrument panel fuse block. Instrument panel fuse block is located behind left side of instrument panel. See Fig 1
and Fig 2
. If an open or high resistance is not found, go to next step. If an open or high resistance is found, repair as necessary then go to step 12
.
- Inspect Black wire for an open or high resistance by backprobing between ground and power seat switch harness connector terminal "C" (without power lumbar support) or terminal "D" (with power lumbar support). See Fig 1
and Fig 2
. If an open or high resistance is not found, go to next step. If an open or high resistance is found, repair as necessary then go to step 12
.
- Disconnect suspect power seat motor 2-pin harness connector. Connect a test light between suspect power seat motor harness connector terminals "A" and "B". See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Press power seat switch to both directions of suspect power seat motor. If test light does not illuminate in both directions, go to next step. If test light illuminates in both directions, go to step 8
.
- Disconnect power seat switch 8-pin harness connector. Inspect suspect power seat motor control circuits for an open or short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. If an open or short to ground is not found, go to step 10
. If an open or short to ground is found, repair as necessary then go to step 12
.
- Inspect power seat motor for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to next step. If poor connections are found, repair as necessary then go to step 12
.
- Replace suspect power seat motor, then go to step 12
.
- Inspect power seat switch harness connector for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to next step. If poor connections are found, repair as necessary then go to step 12
.
- Replace power seat switch, then go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating properly, repeat test beginning at step 2
