Lock Housing Assembly: Removal

  1. Disable air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL  under Removal & Installation. Remove lock cylinder. See LOCK CYLINDER  under Removal & Installation.
  2. Remove steering column housing cover end cap. Remove and disconnect cruise control harness connector from base plate. Remove 3 pan head tapping screws at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, and 8 o'clock. Remove lock housing cover and sleeve assembly (1).
  3. Remove steering column housing cover end base plate (2) and dimmer switch rod actuator (3). See Figure . Remove wiper/washer switch actuator pivot pin. Remove wiper/washer switch assembly from lock housing cover assembly. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH  under Removal & Installation.
