Lock Cylinder: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL  under Removal & Installation. Remove inflatable steering wheel module coil assembly, and allow it to hang freely. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Insert ignition key into lock cylinder. Leave key in LOCK position.
  2. Remove lock retaining screw (2). Disconnect harness connector (4) from bulkhead connector. Remove wiring protector. Disconnect retaining clip (3) from lock housing cover sleeve. Remove lock cylinder (1). See Figure .
